Ice Music

I adore Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi’s music and turn to it frequently both during counselling sessions and when I want to soothe away the stresses of daily life. Music is such a balm for anxiety, bringing us deeply back into the moment. The astonishing piece below is not what I had originally intended to post. I had planned to talk about Einaudi’s beautiful, transportive piece, Luminous, but happened upon Elegy for the Arctic instead. Here, Einaudi offers a haunting musical plea for the future of the Arctic in collaboration with Greenpeace, while playing on a platform floating in a sea of ice. The Norwegian glacier Wahlenbergbreen provides both the backdrop and accompaniment. Truly moving.
